About the Speaker:
Brittany D. Walters, MA, LPC, NCC currently works as a clinical therapist in the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry at West Virginia University. She graduated from Waynesburg University in 2014 with a Master of Arts in Counseling with advanced specialization in addiction counseling. Currently Ms. Walters works at WVU Medicine, Chestnut Ridge Center, which is a teaching hospital with the longest standing and largest medication-assisted treatment program in the state. Working in this setting has allowed Ms. Walters to assist with the education of Masters and Bachelors level student interns and offer individual, group, and family therapy using a variety of theoretical models to treat the dual-diagnosis population. She has experience working in both inpatient and outpatient counseling settings, including a medical detoxification dual-diagnosis unit and 28-day rehab facility. Ms. Walters has presented at Waynesburg University Department of Social Sciences on substance use disorders and clinical counseling experience. She also has a clinical specialization in eating disorders and has presented to Chestnut Ridge Center’s therapists group about effective treatment for eating disorders.
