About the Speaker:

Dr. Hardy has been practicing neonatology at Orlando Health for 30 years. During that time, he has served as the medical director of the Neonatal Transport Team, the Clinical Director of the NICU and the Medical Director for Quality the NICU. When the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative was launched in 2010, Dr. Hardy was named chairman of the Infant Health Subcommittee. He continues in that position as well as serving on the Leadership and Steering Committees. The FPQC will be rolling out a statewide initiative to improve and standardize care for NAS across Florida.

One of Dr. Hardy’s clinical interests is care of the infant with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. He led an interdisciplinary team to develop an evidence-based protocol to treat infants in the Winnie Palmer Hospital NICU who are suffering from NAS. Dr. Hardy was a member of the Florida Collaborative on the Substance Exposed Newborn in 2011. He has represented Orange County mothers and babies as a member of the Orange County Heroin Task Force since 2013. This work has included bringing stakeholders together at the Orange County Prescription Drug Summit in 2014 and the Orange County Drug Abuse Summits in 2015 & 2017.
